asado, spare ribs with disappointment

I just came back from dinner with some friends at Asado steak house. Wednesday is always spare-ribs-all-u-can-eat-day for 7,77 euros. I bet, you think it's damn cheap. Well, let see. We made a reservation at 8 p.m. and as we got there, we got our table instantly without any problem, it's even a nice round table on a corner with a pretty nice chandelier-wannabe-lamp above the table. The Asado restaurant was very full. All the waitress and waiter were very busy and I could see on their faces, that they had a huge stress on that day. So.. the problem began. We asked at least 2 of the waitress for the menu. One of them said that he was busy and we had to wait. He didn't even want to hear that we only asked for the menu. A waitress ignored us just like that. Finally after 20 minutes trying to get served, a friendly waitress responded and gave us the menu. First step done. Now we wanted to order. Again, waiting and waiting and waiting.. the same waitress took our order and that time we knew that our spare ribs would take ages. Ok, what the hell, we were already there and we were sure that Asado had experience serving lots of guests at spare-ribs-day.

We were wrong, the Asado crew was totally overstrained. I don't know what went wrong. I mean, if you offer spare ribs for 7,77 euros only on Wednesday, then you probably want to prepare the meat, the service and everything in case of a full house. But no, it seems like they were doing it for the first time. Totally overstrained, full of stress, overwhelmed with guests. We waited for about 1,5 hour and then we asked for the manager to claim. We weren't the only one, there were some tables, which were also pissed off just like us. We even saw some of the guests leaving Asado after complaining loudly. The Asado manager told us that they couldn't manage to grill so much spare ribs at one time. What an excuse?! The other tables got their spare ribs for the second, third, fourth time and we could only watch..

The manager gave us champagne as compensation but it didn't make our hunger go away. Then finally our spare ribs came and we ate like we never ate in whole life! I must say, the spare ribs were delicious! sauce was also great. As it was getting late, more and more guests were leaving, so we got our next spare ribs in pretty short time interval. But somehow the grill quality was varying. Some of the meat were still red, some were good, some were too long on the grill. At the end, I was a bit disappointed by the food quality. Overall, Asado was a disappointment to me. The way Asado handled such a full day with totally unfriendly service, except for one waitress, was unacceptable. Food was O.K., but I expected a bit more from Asado, which has a reputation as a steak house.

But maybe we were just unlucky. It was my first Asado visit. Friend of mine told me that it's always full on Wednesday but Asado was always able to manage it somehow. But sadly not today. So please share your Asado experience as well at the comment column.
