| Bratkartoffeln with haricot beans and white wine |
|
A few days ago I got hungry late at night and I wanted to make myself something simple and nice. A meaty meal would've been too heavy. So I decided to pick some potatoes, carrots and a can of haricot beans and make a nice Bratkartoffeln (german fries). It was still a bit heavy, because I added some white wine into it. I like this improvisation of Bratkartoffeln and I love to cook it again, if I should run out of meat =) I used 5 pieces of potatoes, 2 carrots, 1 onion, 2 garlic cloves and 1 can of haricot beans. For the flavoring I used basil, oregano , rosemary and thyme. Measure : about 1 teaspoon from each. Don't forget salt and pepper. For best results, cook the potatoes in salted water in their skins until tender. Once cool enough to handle, remove the skins with a vegetable knife or vegetable peeler. For those, who cannot live without meat, you can add some cubed ham, as the original Bratkartoffeln also contains ham.
