This fabulous combination between asian wonton and european cheese is perfect as appetizer or also as snacks. The preparation is absolutely simple and the ingredients are easy to find. I made this cheese wonton as a vegetarian dish, because I really wanted to feel the cheese =) . But meat lovers can also add minced or small sliced meatin the stuffing. So this is how I made it. This recipe is enough for about 15-20 wontons. The most important ingredient is, of course, the wonton wrappers. For the stuffing, you'll need : 1/3 lbs feta (greek) cheese Simply add all the stuffing ingredients onto a bowl : cheese, carrot (chopped into small pieces), basil, oregano and peppermint leaves, and the olive oil. Season to taste with salt and pepper. To fill the wontons, lay one won ton skin in front of you. (Cover the remaining won ton skins with a damp towel to keep them from drying out). Moisten all the edges of the won ton wrapper with water. Place a heaping teaspoon of won ton filling in the center. Fold the wonton wrapper at the diagonal, so that it becomes a triangle. Press down firmly the edges. This is actually not the common way to wrap a wonton. Usually the wonton should be folded again, so that it resembles a nurse's cap. But this time I just folded it once, so I could put in more filling to the wonton. Once you finish the folding, deep-fry the wontons until they turn gold. The cheese is melted and it stays on the inside skin of the wonton wrapper. I made my own sauce-mix from mayo and indonesian chilli sauce (sambel oelek). The idea came from my brother. He made me this sauce once. Since then, I often made and serve it to deep-fried snacks. But you can also use another sauce for this dish. I think, this dish fits perfectly to almost all kinds of dip sauce. Enjoy !
