warmi munich

Cath (my girlfriend) and I were attracted to Warmi, as we went by a few months ago. The small japanese noodle house was furnished with love of details. The lampions, the menu, pictures with japanese cartoon figures on the wall, the bar, etc. It seemed to be an interesting place fom outside, so we went in and looked at the menu on the wall. One chooses a combination of letters and numbers.

With the number from 1 to 4 you chooese between rice noodle, egg noodle, udon or rice. With the letters you choose between vegetarian, chicken, pork, beef, or shrimps. After that, you have to say to the friendly waiter, whether you want your dish as a soup or fried. I ordered egg noodle with beef as a soup and Cath ordered egg noodle fried with pork. While we waited for the food, we read some japanese magazines from the news rack. The place looked pretty authentic because of the decoration and especially the japanese magazines.

After a few minutes waiting, the waiter came with our dishes. I took a picture and it looked like this :

Hmmmmm.. mouth watering ! We didn't hesitate too much and we began to eat. The roast / fried onion wonderfully fits the taste. The soup tasted fantastically. The meat was marinated well. The fried noodle was also great. It was fried with a little bit chilli sauce. Altogether the taste was better than expected. The price was appropriate. Depending on the combination, the dishes cost between 5 and 8 €. Beside the dishes we ordered cold japanese green tea and it was also good.

The ingredients and the preparation of the noodle dishes aren't acually authentic to the japanese style. Recently I heard that the owner is supposed to be non Japanese. It would prove the "not really japanese" cooking style true. Regardless of the authenticity, the food was great and I would like to have a noodle soup in Warmi again in another time.
